Green Agenda in Albania – call for interested NGOs

Posted on June 1, 2007 in Green agenda, ICT.

Milieukontakt International recently started its new four-year programme in the Western Balkans called “Joining Forces for a Sustainable Future in the Western Balkans”, in short Green Agenda in the Western Balkans. Besides Albania, the programme will be implemented in Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo. The project started on 9 February 2007 and will end on 31 December 2010.

The goal of the programme is to contribute to democratisation processess, sustainable development and stability in the Western Balkans through development and implementation of Green Agendas: a participatory method to develop sustainable development strategies and action plans on the local level with active involvement of the local population, CSOs, local government and business. A Green Agenda is not only an actionplan but actual implementation of the Green Agenda is an important and essential element in the programme. Milieukontakt has positive experiences with the implementation of the Green Agenda method in Romania, Croatia, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan.

At this moment Milieukontakt is looking for CSOs that are interested in setting up a Green Agenda process in their community (or a (nearby) community with which they already have good contacts). Milieukontakt will offer support and advice on how to set up a Green Agenda in close cooperation with a team of trainers and will also offer several possibilities for the Green Agenda CSOs to get in touch with each other and support each other where possible and necessary. This way we hope to set up a network of Green Agenda CSOs in Albania.

With this Call for Tender we invite CSOs to apply. The first step in the selection procedure is the pre-selection of 8 CSOs for the Green Agenda workshop which will be held on 30 June and 1 July 2007. Finally, we can only select 3 CSOs. The second step in the selection procedure will be done after the workshop and on basis of criteria, questionnaire and application for the workshop 3 CSOs will be selected to implement the Green Agenda in their community. The selection process is expected to be finalised in the beginning of September 2007. If you are interested to be involved in the project in Albania and to lead the Green Agenda process in your community we kindly ask you to fill out the questionnaire and application form and send it by e-mail on the TWO e-mail addresses mentioned below. You can download the questionnaire and the application form and other details below.

Deadline for sending in the questionnaire and application forms is Thursday 14 June, 17.00hrs.

Please note that this deadline will be used strictly. All the applications that we receive AFTER the deadline will NOT be taken into consideration.
Any application that will not include all information requested will NOT be taken into consideration.
Applications that have not been sent to both mentioned e-mail addresses (of Valbona Mazreku and Suzanne Bakker) will also NOT be taken into consideration.

Please note that you should also apply by way of application form to take part in the workshop “Introduction to Green Agenda” which will take place on 29 June – 1 July 2007. If you are not able to attend this workshop we will not be able to select you.

In case you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact local coordinator
Valbona Mazreku via e-mail: or phone 04 234851.
You can contact project coordinator Suzanne Bakker in Amsterdam on her e-mail address: or by telephone at the Milieukontakt office in Amsterdam: +31-20-5318930 on Mondays – Tuesdays or Thursdays.
