In the summer of 2009 the first Pskov Summer Course on IWRM was organized by the Pskov Teachers Training University (Pskov), the Russian River Network(Nizhni Novgorod), the Omsk Ecological Committee (Omsk), Verkhovye (Moskovskaya Oblast) in cooperation with Milieukontakt International (NL), the Province of Drenthe (NL) and Wageningen International (NL).
The summer course is part of the project IWRM course in the Russian Federation – Developing a Course on Integrated Water Management in the RF and Putting New Ideas int Practice. This project is financed by the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs within the framework of the MATRA program.
In order to give the alumni of this international course the opportunity to put their new ideas into practice Milieukontakt issues a call for project proposals.
Who can apply?
Alumni of the First international integrated water resources management course Pskov 2009. Preferably Consortia of Environmental NGOs together with their local authorities.
Organisational support: 5700,- Euro
Local Workshops on IWRM: 400,- Euro
Execution of Practical measures: 3,900,- Euro
Total: 10.000,- Euro

Overall aim of the projects:
The projects need to aim at the practical introduction of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) to solve environmental problems related to inland water in the Russian Federation.
Implement one pilot project (preferably more in cooperation with the small embassy Matra KAP program);
Apply in reality the new approach from the IWRM course 2009;
Report on the pilot projects in order to make them available as case studies for the Second IWRM course.
Practical measures that help to solve environmental problems related to inland water in the Russian Federation;
Case studies that can serve as a body of experience with do’s and dont’s regarding the application of IWRM on the local level in the Russian Federation.
Case studies to improve and fine tune the Second IWRM course that will be organized in July 2010.
Alumni of the First international integrated water resources management course Pskov 2009 and their organizations.
Study visit to the Netherlands:
Two Representatives of the local organization and one local governmental counterpart will have the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands for a study visit on IWRM.

Milieukontakt has the possibility to finance one pilot project. All non selected applicants will be advised to send their project proposal to the MATRA/KAP programme at the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Moscow or the Consulate General of the Netherlands in St.Petersburg. Therefore Milieukontakt uses the MATRA/KAP project proposal format for this call for proposals.
